World Cup 2

Seoul, South Korea

Wim De Deyne fractures leg, ends his career in short track

Thank God Wim is ok.  He got out of surgery fine.  It’s sad that he will not be competing in Vancouver.  I pray for his speedy recovery.  This just makes me even more worried about World Cup 4 in Marquette in regards to the safety of the skaters.

Update 10:30PM PST

SBS Sports broadcasted the 500m races so I couldn’t watch them.  REMEMBER, World Cup 2 is online TONIGHT again on TVUPlayer at 11pm PST!  The 1000m and relays are going on!

I’ll explain about the 500m last night later.  I was talking to Travis Jayner live in Korea last night getting all the info as it was happening.  REMEMBER!  I have added a second and third twitter account!  It’s @shorttrackHD2 and @shorttrackHD3!

Update again 12:33AM PST

Man they simply could NOT get past the Korean wave!  From the start of the men’s 1500m A final, ALL three Koreans started slow, but pushed the paced the entire time to win the 1500m again!  It was one, two, three South Korea!  Lee Ho-Suk beat Lee Jung-Su by 0.002 SECONDS at the line with Kim Seoung Il right behind!  The real race was literally between the Koreans themselves.   It was simply exciting to see all three Koreans duke it out amongst each other.  The other skaters should have separated the Koreans early on, but made no major attempt to do so.

In the women’s 1500m Final, Lee Eun-Byul showed the Chinese that she had what it took to win the 1500m Final A.  I personally felt that Zhou Yang took too long to execute her pass.  She always waits until the last moment to just overpower and take the front in the end, but this time that plan did not work.  Katherine Reutter was the lone American in that race and looked like she fell on her own.  I didn’t see any contact.  It looked like she just heeled it out herself.

500m races are up now. They are being broadcasted by SBS Sports, which is a premium channel and cannot be watched for free.

Update 9/25/2009

World Cup 2 will be on SBS at 3pm Korea time Saturday and Sunday.  That means that it will be playing at 11pm PST or 2am EST!  You can watch SBS on the same TVUPlayer download below.  The name to search for is “KNN SBS” or Channel 81043.  I’m not too sure if this is the RIGHT channel, due to the fact there are so many sub-SBS channels.  I’ll be on the lookout.

There is another way to watch SBS and that’s through TVants.  It’s a peer-to-peer program and there are other SBS channels as well.  I will be here monitoring the channels and will update through Twitter and update this site when I find out the information.

Download TVAnts

To download TVAnts, click on this link here: http://tvants.en.softonic.com/

Download and install.  When you are done installing the program, search for SBS.  You should see a list.  I will confirm which channel it’s playing on my site here.

Update 9/24/2009

Looks like the usual skaters making it out through the heats easily.  I can’t believe I’m seeing PRE-PRELIMS.

I just checked the schedule for CCTV-5 and will confirm that the Seoul World Cup will broadcast on Sunday at 5:26pm and 6:55pm China time.  That translates to 2:26am and 3:55am PST (5:26am and 6:55am EST).  I don’t know if they’ll be broadcasting the same thing since the titles are the same on the website, so I’ve gone ahead to contact my Chinese friends over there to confirm.

I’ll do what I can do find out more information about the SBS Korean broadcast with my counterparts over there.  To watch CCTV-5 online, you’ll need the TVUPlayer.

Download TVUPlayer

The link to download TVUPlayer: http://pages.tvunetworks.com/downloads/player.html

Select for Windows or for a Mac.  Once you’re done installing the player, just simply tune into CCTV-5.
